Hobb’s Grove (in Sanger, CA) has been a unique place to go to, and frankly my first drive there was more scary than Hobb’s Grove. The area in which Hobb’s Grove resides is pitch black; not a single street light is present on the way there. You’ve only know you’re headed there once you finally see the lights. That doesn’t mean that some of the attractions there aren’t fun or spooky; the feeling of intense heat from spontaneous fires and the roaring, gasoline exhaust spewing from chainsaws up close is downright scary (yes you read that right, live chainsaws. I’m pretty sure the moving parts are removed though). Then there’s the affair of overpriced fair food and drinks, which is fine for kids… But where’s the stuff for adults? Apparently, Hobb’s Grove now has a speakeasy, and as its name suggests, it is indeed hidden. You can’t simply just waltz on in there; they want you to play a game first.
