Oakhurst Spirits Distillery is a craft distillery in Oakhurst, California. Being an independent distillery, it has a local quality to it, as ingredients, like lavender or coriander, are sourced locally. More so, a distillery has a special, symbiotic relationship with nearby wineries and breweries. Wine can be distilled to make Brandy, that I already know. I learned that beer can also be distilled to make Whiskey, as both are made from grains. All of these products can also utilize barrels, so here’s for barrel sharing!

I last visited the distillery a month or two ago, on our way to Yosemite, which we ended not going to because it wasn’t available (reservations required). The building encompasses an Art Galley, and in the distillery, there’s a cute bar room, and the actual equipment for producing their spirits. Specifically, I think there was a tank full of the mash for Whiskey. Out of all the spirits to choose from, we got Gin, and Lavender Vodka.

The gin is slightly more sweet, mellow, and minty compared to others (such as like Bombay), so its mildness is perfect for those who don’t like overpowering their cocktails. The Lavender Vodka is well, lavender infused Vodka. It’s very floral and obvious that it is indeed made with lavender. The lavender vodka is ideal for fruity, sweet, or light drinks, and suitable as a night cap, since lavender is known for its relaxing and sleep promoting effects.
